Saints Collect First Premiership Point

March 18, 2008

A resounding draw saw The Saints pick up their first Premiership point and so the Fight For Survival begins.

A very close game involving two teams, both with players led to a stalemate that could not be broken as the full time whistle sounded.  A goal was scored by one team first and then after that three more goals were scored.  Two of them were scored by St John’s players - one of whom was Severs (who was eventually convinced to get on the pitch) and the other one was probably Cooper.

Andy Cunliffe probably played really well but will have missed a few sitters.

The gaffer didn’t even bother putting his boots on and Cooper nearly got sent off.  If the  referee had heard his language upon finding out that the other guy who scored as many as him last season got the golden boot trophey because “he was here last week” then I am certain The Saint’s all time top scorer would have seen red.

No more information about the game can be given because the talk of the terraces was, rather than football, mostly about kebabs, the lack of chips, Sever’s non existant social life, his cats and the possible name for Baby Hoyland (Eliott - or Elliot - being the favourite from a certain Super Sub).

Worthy of a mention in the match report, however, was the arrival of Saints newbie - Chris.

Saint’s walk to victory

December 11, 2007

Quite literally. Piffle didn’t turn up. Which was probably a good thing as it was slippy and we weren’t very good in the kick about that we had instead of playing.

The walkover pushes us up to third place and if we fail to drop anymore points this season we would make the second promotion place. Which would see a return of the yellow kit. So maybe we should aim to drop a few points and then we can wear green next season.
